Mike Bell

After teaching and lecturing in Art and Design for thirty years, Mike took early retirement ten years ago to concentrate on his painting.

His work is primarily mixed media, using many materials to create a strong textured surface on the canvas. His inspirations mainly come from the wild Northumbrian coast where he lived for 25 years and now from the Wild Borders region of hills, lakes, dales and wild moorland. Mike says "The Land of Far Horizons" Northumberland, has light which enhances the tactile quality of the landscape no matter what the season.

Other Information

Mike Bell is a member of the Artrom Gallery Guild of Artists and Designers in Rome.

In 2007, Mike’s work was commissioned by The Wetherspoons Hotel chain and for a large water park project in The Cotswolds.

Also in 2007, Mr. Bell was selected by Agape Tile, North Carolina USA to present his portfolio on their stand at the prestigious Dubai Index Exhibition, the largest designer show in the Middle East.

In 2006, Mike’s work was shown at Art Basel in Miami by NYArts magazine and in 2006-2007 by The American Juried Art Salon Online Spring/Summer Show, AJAS. These events achieved Mike the status of Master Class Plus Artist member.
